The Big 50…

No I am not turning 50.  This is my 50th post on here.  I think it is sad that it is that low.  Hopefully now that I am in the office more I can get some blogs out.  Right now I just want to share what has been going on in my life.

1.  Right now Hannah and I are in the middle of a Daniel Fast.  We are just seeking God with everything in our life.  The Fostering deal is getting frustrating because we have been licensed for several weeks now with no phones at all about children.  We know that God wanted us to do this but it sucks waiting!  I am a very positive person and it has been hard to stay positive with this.  I am not that patient of a person.  I am a got to have it now kind of guy.  Right now though we are just seeking God’s will and asking him to put the right child with us.  We need your prayers.

2.  The youth room is done and we worship in there sunday night.  I am really excited because my brother in law Josh is going to be leading worship.  He is a very gifted person and is excited to get to lead again.  I know you have probably been wondering when I am going to post some pictures.  I plan on posted some next week.  Be ready!

3.  God has been calling me out on a lot of things lately.  I love the book of John (which is what I am reading during the fast) because it is pretty much written in red.  Jesus words have been speaking right into my heart.

4.  I am speaking sunday at church. Please pray that it goes well and that God will move through the church and into the community.  I believe spiritual break through can happen if people jump on board with what I speak on.

5.  I have been planning what the youth are going to be doing this fall and winter.  I am really excited about some of the series that I am going to be speaking.  We have some really cool events too.  One that I am really excited about is the TOMS Party.  It is going to be really cool.

6.  Fuel is coming up and we may have one of the biggest groups that SC has ever had.  (I really am not sure of that so don’t hold me to that.)  We have 10 people coming so far.  Several of them are ministry students.  2 of them are ones that I am bringing.  I believe these students are going to do some amazing things.  Be ready CHURCH!

Hannah and I have been here at Table Rock Wesleyan Camp for another week and it has been great.  I have never been to a family camp before.  It is really fun getting to know people that I don’t know to well.  Here is my views from family camp.

1.  Buddy is a great leader.  He has done a great job heading up this district.  (I don’t want his job.)

2.  I love building relationships and family camp is a great place to do that.

3.  Most churches don’t come out and take advantage of this camp during this time. (My church included.  Which is sad.)

4.  The speakers this week have been great. (John Ott and Joe Dongell for the evening rallies/adult tracks.  Youth rally – Matt Lidis, Adam Robbins and Jody Reynolds).

5.  I have really enjoyed playing in the band and hearing Hannah sing too.  These people are great to work with.

6. Last night was youth night at the evening rally.  I  lead worship and it was amazing to see the teens getting into worship and looking back and seeing 50, 60, 70, 80…year olds getting into it too.  I love worship like that.  The night was amazing.  The testimonies were right on point.  I know that the people really enjoyed seeing what went on at youth camp this year.  You have to get excited about it once you see and hear what went on!

7. I love Table Rock!

If you are in SC you need to be here!  Welcome Wesleyan Church, you need to be here!

Life Update

Life has been really busy here lately.

The 2nd week in June I spent up at Table Rock Camp.  I love that place!  We put in a sand volley ball court.  It turned out really nice.  We also set up for the youth camps.  We had to set up for recreation and also set up the stage for the worship rallies.  I really think the stage turned out great and really created a great environment for experiencing God.  I couldn’t have done the stage design without the help of my great friends James Henderson, Brady, and several others.

June 16 – 20 was middle school camp.  It was amazing.  Normally middle school is like the test drive for camp and high school is the best but this year I believe that changed.  We planned ahead and wanted to do our best to make both camps the best and give it all we had.  Christian Chapman did a great job of bringing the word of God and giving the students some things to make decisions about.  The students responses were so great.  Several gave their hearts to Christ.  Some laid down some things they have been holding onto that God wanted them to let go.  The students had a great time through out the camp doing things like going to the water park, sports, swimming in the lake, hanging with friends, making new friends, the gong show, etc.  We all had a great time.  I went up to several of the students and asked this question “What is the best thing you like about camp?”  I was thinking that most would say the games but most of their responses were “The rallies!”  That made me feel really good.  The kids come to the camp expecting God to move!  What would happen if people in church would have that mind set?

June 23 – 27 was High School camp.  Man it was awesome.  God showed up like crazy.  Both of the camps were the same.  God moved and the students lives were changed.  Derik Idol spoke and did a great job.  He talked about several things that have to do with FREE!  (Free was the theme of the camp.  Yes we stuck to the theme!)  Students were able to pray with their youth leader or youth pastor about the scars in their lives.  They were able to surrender the things they have been hanging on too.  My favorite part of this camp was Friday night where we baptized several students who accepted Christ that week.  It was an awesome way of ending camp.  These camps were the best camps I have ever been too and I have been to several.  God isn’t done with the SC district.

After high school camp, Hannah and I headed down to St. Simons, GA, for a week long vacation with my family.  It was great.  I loved the place.  We had a pool at the house and I spent a lot of time there.  (I am not that big of a fan of the beach anymore.  One word SHARKS!)

We are now back in town.  We are getting read for our lead test that is being done to our house.  This is the last thing to be done before we are approved to be foster parents!  We are so excited. Please pray that our house tests negative.

I am also getting ready for Family camp.  It is going to be good.  Hannah and I are going to be in the worship band there.  I am also leading worship for the youth part.  I am working on a highlight video of camp to show at the camp.

That is it for now.  Hope everything is going well for everyone in the blog world. (I know a lot of people are getting sick around me.  Hannah is sick in bed now. Please pray for her.)

Tuesday Night Set List

  1. Awesome is the Lord – Chris Tomlin
  2. Salvation is Here – Hillsong United
  3. Your Blood (Nothing but the Blood) – Matt Redman
  4. Center – Charlie Hall
Tuesday night was one of the hardest nights for worship.  We didn’t see to connect with the people as much and in turn did not connect to God as much as I would have liked.  We did worship but I felt like people were distant from it though.  I think one of the problems though was because of song selection.  A lot of the people that were there all of the songs were new to them (I know they do need to turn on Christian radio a little more.)
Wednesday Night Set List
  1. Mighty to Save/Shout unto God – Hillsong United
  2. Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone) – Chris Tomlin
  3. I see the Lord – good question but I am going to go with Isaiah 6 on that one.
We had several things in the intro where the band played along with them but it wasn’t really what we had originally planned.  It was good but a little long so we had to shorten our worship set up a little. I thought it went really well.  Everyone knew the songs and everyone was singing out.  I thought Shout unto God may have caught people of guard. Oh well, I like to shout out to God!  Then the last two song went great.  I really enjoyed singing I See the Lord.  There is something about singing scripture.  I even had to take off my sandals because I didn’t want any pride to get in the way 🙂  I loved the message.  It really challenged me.
God moved in some amazing ways this week.  He used Charles Moses greatly.  I love listening to that man because he is so funny and he straight up brings it!  He isn’t scared to uses words that communicate better to this day and age.  He isn’t scared to tell you like it is.  He isn’t scared to get in your face.  He just speaks what God gives him.  Good stuff Good times!  I hope though this revival (which these days is just a name for a gathering of churches in the south) leads to a great REVIVAL (God coming down) in this community.  I hope people in these churches that were here go out and be the church in a world that is in need of Christ!

I have been leading worship at the area revival down here in South Carolina which is being held at my church.  It has been going great.  God has been moving through the Church.  Charles Moses is the speaker and he is straight bring it.

Here is the run down.

Sunday Night it was a packed house.  I think the excitement was up and everyone was singing out once we got into the worship set.

Sunday Night Set List

  1. Lord, Reign in Me – Brenton Brown
  2. Sing to the King – Bill Foote
  3. Solid Rock – Public Domain
  4. Amazing Grace (My chains are gone) – Chris Tomlin
  5. Give Us Clean Hands – Charlie Hall
Attendance wasn’t as high but I think people listened to the message and it hit home with most.  Everyone was singing for the most part but they weren’t as into it as on sunday night.
Monday Night Set List
  1. Awesome is the Lord Most High – Chris Tomlin
  2. How Great Thou Art – Stuart Hine
  3. Mighty to Save – Hillsong
  4. How Marvelous (I Stand Amazed) – Chris Tomlin’s Version
I can’t wait until tonight.  I know God is going to show up and change me and change the church in this area (or that is at least my prayer.)

Golf Tournament

What a day!  Yesterday I head up a golf tournament to help raise funds for South Carolina Wesleyan Youth Camps this year.  It was a really good turn out.  We had 39 golfers.  We raised about 2,500 dollars (I am still counting everything up though so it may be more!)  Everyone seemed to have a great time and I think this year was a great building block for the future.  We are planning on having one next year for sure!

5 reasons why I think people should do Golf Tournament fundraisers

  1. People love to play golf.  (Golf is being played all over the U.S. and overseas.  Young or old, male or female, bad or good, people are play the game.)
  2. It is easy to put it together.  (Doesn’t take to much time if you have a lot of people on board helping you.)
  3. The day of the golf tournament runs smoothly and doesn’t really require much work.
  4. It brings in money!  (There is a lot of tournaments that have been going for years around my area and they pull in a lot of money.  I think we will get there one day!  Maybe next year!)
  5. It is fun and people will continue to support it.  (Everyone had fun yesterday and I have no doubt in my mind that they will be back next year.  They will probably bring more people with them.)

dirty-series-graphic.jpg

This weekend was great.  I love hanging around Bullpen Student Ministries.  Those teens are really cool to be around.  Kris is always great to hang out with. I love the guy.  Almost everyone there were passionate about following after Christ and making an impact in their schools and homes.

We went through a series that God placed in my heart called “Dirty.”  It was really good, we talked about the dirty deeds that we have done and have had done to us. We also looked at the dirty little secrets that we try to hide from God like sex and lust.  Then on sunday I challenged them to get in the world and reach out.  I think the teens really enjoyed it and God really moved throughout the whole weekend.

I made it back in time for youth group sunday night.  I had to drive 4 hours on 3 hours of sleep from the night before.  It was hard but I wouldn’t have done it any other way.  I really enjoyed speaking there and I am glad that God called me to go do that.  Maybe I will do more of this in the future.
