Jesus Loves me this I know

That song is one that I can remember singing as a child in church and at home.  I loved that song.  I still think it is one of the best song even though it is a little childish :).  It is so Biblical.  Jesus love us all!  He proved himself to me when he showed me what he had to do for me because of my wrong doings.  I wasn’t worthy of that but he did it out of his love for me and everyone else.  Oh how he loves you and me…

Do you know that he loves you?

Are you showing that love to others?

Jesus loves us and we are to love others.

Learning from James (Part 1)

Here lately I have found myself in the book of James.  I love this book.  God is speaking to me in so many ways.  Here is what he is teaching me so far…

  1. James 1:2-3: This isn’t easy. When I go through times of trails (which I have been through several),I I need to find Joy in it because I am being tested for my faith.  I tell the teens all the time that if we are having persecution done to us (in what ever way) then that is good because Satan isn’t happy with what we are doing for God!
  2. James 1:5-8: I lack wisdom a lot and verse 5 shows me that I continually need to seek God for his wisdom.  I sometimes find myself doubting and I need to stop! If God is involved and in control of my life why should I doubt?
  3. James 1:12: I want that crown of life! I want to stand before my trials and win!
  4. James 1:19-20: Sometimes I am not good at this.  God is working on me with this. Mom calls it the Wilson tempter.
  5. James 1:26-27: These verses jumped out to me.  It made me think: how am I doing to help orphans and widows?  Am I reaching out to those in need?

Mind Games and Satan

In youth group we sometimes play mind games like Snaps, Green glass door, etc.  They are really fun for me at least because I know what is going on.  For my teens however they sometimes get so mad because they can’t figure it out.  Some of them get really mad because a few have figured it out and they still can’t get it.  On that note though sometimes I have mind games going on in my head.  Satan tries so hard to bring me down.  He is always telling me that I am not good enough.  He seems to trick me into thinking that I am not doing it right.  Sometimes I can’t figure his mind games out and it really brings me down.  Sometimes we just need help and guidance from others.A lot of the mind games that we do in youth group I wouldn’t have picked up on unless my friends didn’t help me.  They told me things to look for.  Sometimes when satan is playing mind games with me, I just need to turn to a close friend for help and for some encouragement.  What mind games is satan playing on you?  Find someone for help and guidance through it.  I know Jesus is there for us and he also wants us to be there for others.  1 John 4:21 Loving others means lifting them up in times like this.  I am here for anyone who needs it.  I know I also have friends out there that are there for me when I need it.

Perfection? I am human.

People: your poop does stink!  I don’t care what you try to tell me, I know it does. A lot of people have a lot of pride about who they are. For some, they think they have never done wrong and they are just fine where they are in life. Others think just because they go to church then they are going to make it to heaven. Understand this: we are all sinners.  I am a sinner.  The great thing is that we have a gift of grace that was given to us. I am now a sinner saved by grace.  We aren’t perfect but in Christ, we can be made perfect.  God calls us to a perfect life but we can’t live it on our own.  When we surrender our lives over to Christ, we are surrendering everything to him. That means he is now living in us.   1 Peter 1:15-16 (Msg) says “As obedient children, let yourselves be pulled into a way of life shaped by God’s life, a life energetic and blazing with holiness. God said, “I am holy; you be holy.” I love this verse because it shows me that I can be made perfect through Christ.  I can live a life that is holy and blameless if, I repeat if, I truly surrender everything over to him.  That means dying to my selfish ways of living.  That means I am no longer over what I do with my life.

Jesus – Lonely?

This is something that I have never really thought of before.  Jesus being lonely?  It was the night of Jesus being arrested and taking off to be crucified.  He prayed in the garden and told his 3 favorite disciples (yep, Jesus had favorites) to pray and watch for him but they fell asleep.  Can you imagine what was going through his mind?  Maybe he was like this. Here I am fixing to die for the sins of the world and I can’t count on my closest friends to watch my back.  Then Judas comes into the scene and gives Jesus a kiss on the cheek.  (If it was me I would be mad that the dude kissed me but it was different back then.)  Judas showed the men that were there to arrest Jesus, which one he was.  Yep, he turned Jesus in for some money.  Jesus was betrayed by Judas.  Judas was one of his disciples.  One of his friends.  Jesus was probably heart broken.  He felt all alone.  Then they arrested him and then the disciples scattered leaving Jesus alone. If we look at Peter’s story we can see that he betrays Jesus three times by claiming not to know Jesus.  It is crazy to think about how lonely Jesus felt during this time.  In our lives, we have probably went through times when we felt all alone.  Jesus can relate.  Not only can he relate though but he can be there for us in those times.  Here are some times when we may feel all alone.  “your father left” – The Lord said “I will never leave you or forsake you”  Hebrews 13:5.  “your friend cheated” – “Jesus says peace I leave with you, my peace I give you” John 14:27.  “your brother/sister lied” – God is the God of compassion and the God of all comfort and he is here to comfort us 2 Corinthians 1:3-4. “a divorce that divided your parents” – In our weakness, the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express Romans 8:26.  I know for me in my life I have felt times of aloneness but God was there to comfort me.  Maybe you are lonely right now.  I encourage you to turn to Christ (who can relate with you) for comfort.
